Luxury hotel Wynyard Hall proudly premiers its first Gin Festival. Taking place on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th July, it promises to be an unmissable event for gin connoisseurs. Held within The Grand Marquee, it will headline over fifty unusual gin brands, sourced from regional, independent distilleries and exotic international vendors – including local favourites Poetic License, Newcastle Gin Company and Masons Dry Yorkshire Gin, along with Sipmith, William Chase, Edinburgh Gin, JJ Whitely, Liverpool Gin and the devilishly divine Xolato chocolate flavoured tipple. With supporting live music and authentic street food vendors, the Gin Festival at Wynyard Hall is set to be a spirited summer celebration.
Wynyard Hall’s Chief Mixologist, David Clark is passionate about sharing his breadth of knowledge with the team and guests. “Our customers seem to love gin just as much as we do, as we sell more gin than any other spirit- so what better way to celebrate than with a festival?” Says David “I love creating cocktails using ingredients grown in our Edible Garden. My favourite is Beetroot Smash, which I created for the launch of The Edible Garden! It’s made using a full beetroot per cocktail, fresh coriander and raspberries, along with a mix of Poetic license ‘Northern Dry’ Gin, Benedictine, honey and gomme syrup.”
Already a proud patron of local business through its regionally sourced Farm Shop, monthly Farmer’s Market and seasonal Spring Fayre, Wynyard Hall is thrilled to showcase independent brands, such as Jon Chadwick’s Durham Distilleries at the festival. Recently honoured as Warden Rectifier of the Gin Guild and member of the prestigious Scottish Craft Distillers Association, Jon Chadwick’s Durham Gin uses traditional distilling methods to create a unique, botanical blend – which is a favourite among the team!
Karl Masons, founder of the popular Masons Dry Yorkshire Gin, commented “We are delighted to be part of the upcoming gin festival at Wynyard Hall. It is an exciting opportunity to showcase our range of gins from the Lavender Edition to our Yorkshire Tea Edition, both of which truly embody the Yorkshire spirit. All our gin is distilled using the traditional London Dry Gin method in our gleaming copper alembic stills and our trademark smooth finish makes the gin good enough to be drank simply over ice.”
