A long lingering lunch, enjoying delicious food, great wine and fascinating conversation with someone interesting is a great way to spend an afternoon. At beautiful Coworth Park, nestled in the Surrey woodland, special Speaker Events throughout the year bring a whole host of experts to the hotel, sharing their knowledge, insider info and top tips on everything from gift wrapping and home décor to celebrity life and country pursuits.
Previous speakers this year have included Monique Lee Millinery, Carol Joy London and the fabulous Sophie Conran, who we were lucky enough to sit down with for a diverting three hours, discussing everything from cooking with children to renovating old houses. Conran, whose star-studded family includes her father Sir Terence Conran, her mother food writer Caroline Conran, and brothers Jasper Conran – a fashion designer – and restaurateur Tom, was incredibly generous with her time and snippets from her unique and, somewhat rockstar childhood. She shared some wonderful family photos and took us through her career to date, from the early days as a cook and interior designer to her now considerable and expansive homeware business.
Lunch is served in Restaurant Coworth Park, a beautiful room with views across the hotel’s garden and polo fields, with a Champagne reception beforehand and a chance to chat to the speakers and ask questions afterwards. Coming up later this year is local artist Kerry Lemon, who talks about creating artwork for international print, retail and architectural clients, and discusses some of her large scale installations in Coutts, Liberty London, Harrods, De Beers, Smythson, Jo Malone and Fortnum and Mason and radio DJ, journalist, writer and comic Caroline Faraday, renowned for interviewing some of Hollywood’s biggest stars for Sky News and BBC.
