Springtime sees the arrival of two new official royals, Megan Markle (tipped to be The Duchess of Sussex) and the royal baby, and so what better way to celebrate than with a retreat fit for royals. Ellenborough Park, the jewel in the Cotswold crown, has launched a Royal Experience that will see guests living the royal dream.
Whisked off in a Rolls-Royce, pseudo-sovereigns will be transported straight to this 15th century manor house hotel, and the majestic Arkle Suite for their two-night stay. Recognisable by its high ceilings with exposed beams, four poster bed and enormous bathroom, it’s wonderfully palatial.
This specialised experience features a whole host of quintessentially British experiences from clay pigeon shooting at the award-winning Ian Coley Shooting School to a trip to Sudeley Castle. Sudeley Castle & Gardens has played an important role in England’s history for over 1,000 years and is the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within its grounds – Henry VIII’s final wife Catherine Parr. With dinners in the newly refurbished Restaurant, guests will find themselves dining on fresh local produce such as west country venison or Gloucestershire chicken with truffled potatoes, all whipped up by executive chef David Williams.
The final day in the glorious Cotswold countryside will involve a visit to nearby Highgrove Gardens, the private residence of HRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. Guests will then be able to enjoy a spot of falconry in Ellenborough Park’s own 90-acre estate before waving goodbye and heading back to reality.
Ellenborough Park’s Royal Package is inclusive of a two-night stay in the Istabraq Suite, transfers in a Rolls Royce from Heathrow airport or the train station, clay pigeon shooting, Sudeley Castle entrance fee, Highgrove Gardens visit, falconry, two dinners, breakfast and full access to the spa.
